Proper social distancing means: you’re home! Your pets couldn’t be more delighted!

Many of us spend more time working from home now – which means more snuggle time with our pets! The Brookside Barkery and Bath is all about making sure you and your pets stay home, happy, and healthy! Check out our safety updates here!

  1. Stay Home

The easiest way to keep yourself safe is to stay home. Your dog will love the extra attention even if your cat needs some time to adjust to the new schedule.

If you have to go out in public, maintain a safe distance of six feet from other people and be sure to wash your hands thoroughly when you get home. It’s also a good idea to keep hand sanitizer or Clorox wipes on hand to wipe down high-touch areas like door handles, shopping cart handles, or even your steering wheel.

Don’t forget that online shopping is an option too! Order your pet’s food online and check out some new toys and treats for some extra at-home fun.

  1. Stay Healthy

One important task during this unique time is to examine your living space! We know you want your home environment to be a safe and happy one – so we’ve provided a quick list of common household items that can be very hazardous to your furry friends’ well-being.

Several of these toxins can be absorbed quite easily, whether through the skin (household chemicals or flea and tick medication), through inhalation (paint fumes, bug sprays and pesticides), or even through poor quality pet foods. Even their eyes can be affected by blue light from TVs late at night that can upset sleep patterns. All of these methods of absorption can cause serious health damages if not death for your pets, and don’t forget these toxins are harmful for you too! Check out these common household toxins to make sure your pals are staying safe and healthy!

For more information on household toxins, please visit the Pet Poison Helpline or the ASPCA. Please take advantage of your extra time at home to look around your house and make sure that you and your pets and living in a toxin free environment.

  1. Stay Happy

There are plenty of ways for you and your pets to stay happy even from home whether it’s a new toy or two or even learning some new tricks. Make sure to keep safe social distance when you go on walks (it’s probably best to avoid busy dog parks but a quiet neighborhood or a hiking trail will do fine). And don’t forget, snuggling your pet is a happy cure for sure!
